Fans were on the edge of their seats as the latest edition of the ABN AMRO Open has produced some spectacular encounters thus far. The ATP Rotterdam, which is a part of the men’s tour 500 series, features some of the big guns competing on the indoor hard courts.  Now that the semifinal round fixtures have come to a conclusion, the big stage is for a blockbuster finale between two top-seeded players.

The new Grand Slam champion, Jannik Sinner, will square off against the fifth-seeded Australian, Alex de Minaur, in a high-profile championship game. It will be interesting to see who prevails in this encounter, as both the top-ranked players will be competing for the title at the Rotterdam Ahoy.

After her triumphant campaign at the Australian Open, Jannik Sinner is back on the court at the ATP 500 event in Rotterdam. Entering the tournament as the number one seed, the new Grand Slam champion overcame the likes of Boticvan de Zandschulp and Gaël Monfils. In the quarterfinals, the young Italian tennis sensation was awarded a walkover after his Canadian opponent Milos Raonic picked up an injury in this second set. Jannik later breezed past Tallon Griekspoor in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4, to reach the title match.

Alex de Minaur, on the other hand, is coming to the tournament after his fourth-round defeat at the Australian Open. In his first-round match in Rotterdam, the current number 11 player brushed aside the likes of Sebastian Korda and David Goffin to reach the quarterfinals. The Aussie then stunned the second seed, Andrey Rublev, before his seminal victory against Grigor Dimitrov in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3.

Sinner vs. De Minaur: Head-to-Head

The semifinal match between Sinner and De Minaur at the ABN AMRO Open will also mark their seventh meeting on the ATP circuit. In all their previous encounters at the different tournaments, including a Grand Slam match, it was the Italian player who defeated De Minaur and currently has a dominating 6-0 lead in their H2H record.

The 22-year-old tennis sensation is now a Grand Slam champion and also has a No. 4 ranking on the men’s tour. Given his vast experience and dominating past encounters against De Minaur, Jannik is the favorite to win the finals and lift another trophy in Rotterdam.
