There is hardly anyone who wouldn’t have thought that Novak Djokovic could make it into the finals in the Paris Masters. Coming in after winning his 24th Grand Slam, he had high expectations and he managed to stand on them. However, the tournament has not been the best so far for him. Given the medical problems that he has faced and the way he tackled them while crushing down his opponents is something noteworthy.

From defeating Holger Rune in a 3-set-thriller with the score of 7-5, 6-7, 6-4 in the quarter-finals to crushing Andrey Rublev in the semi-finals with the score of 5-7, 7-6, 7-6, he surely had to pull in some extra efforts in this tournament. However, eventually, his efforts paid off.

On the other hand, his opponent Grigor Dimitrov has known no stopping at the Paris Masters this year. The road to the finals hasn’t been easy at all for him but the way he managed to defeat some of the best names in the world is surely commendable. First came Daniil Medvedev who he defeated 6-4, 6-7, 7-6. Then came the tough challenge of Hubert Hurkacz, who is in red-hot form at the moment.

The Bulgarian swept him aside 6-1, 4-6, 6-4 and made his way into the semis where he faced Stefanos Tsitsipas. In a thriller showdown, Dimitrov managed to win the match in 3 sets with a scoreline of 6-3, 6-7, 7-6 and made his way into the finals.

Djokovic vs Dimitrov: Head-to-head

When it comes to the head-to-head stats between the two players, Novak Djokovic has an almost perfect record. Out of the 12 matches played, he has managed to win 11 out of them while losing just once. Their first-ever meeting came back at the ATP Shanghai Masters in 2012. A resilient Novak Djokovic stood tall in front of the Bulgarian and defeated him in straight sets. The final scoreline of the match ended 6-3, 6-2 in favor of the Serbian.

On the other hand, their latest encounter came back at the Italian Open earlier this year, In what was a 3-set-thriller, the Serbian won the match with a scoreline was 6-3, 4-6, 6-1. The only win that Dimitrov could pull off over the reigning World No. 1 came 10 years back at the 2013 Madrid Open.
