Taylor Fritz is surely enjoying his entry into the ATP Top 10. However, it may not for long. Just like every week, ATP today released its updated rankings after the ATP Masters 1000 Indian Wells. However, with wrong rankings. The Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) is experiencing a technical issue, affecting the ranking calculation.

Who is probably the most excited about the error? The 2022 ATP Masters BNP Paribas Open (Indian Wells) champion Taylor Fritz. As per the ATP rankings before the Indian Wells, Fritz was on the 20th spot with 2010 points. Winning the Masters 1000 event by beating Nadal, Fritz should have moved 7 places to be in 13th place. However, as per the error hit rankings, Fritz is currently on the 8th spot in the ATP rankings. How did he reach the 8th spot?

The error-hit rankings of ATP

As per the live ATP rankings, Fritz currently should be at the 13th spot with 2920 points. However, as per the ATP website, the American is on the 8th spot with 3875 points.

Moments ago, ATP took to its Twitter handle addressing the issue. The governing body of men’s tennis wrote, “We are currently experiencing a technical issue affecting the calculation of the ATP Rankings on our platforms. We are working to resolve this issue as soon as possible.”

Even though for some time, but Fritz has seen a positive jump in the rankings. However, unlike Fritz one player that has seen a downfall due to the error is Italian sensation Matteo Berrettini. The 25-year-old, who was previously on 6th rank, should have retained his spot in the new rankings. But, as per the error-hit rankings, Berretini has been pushed down to 7th, with Russian prodigy Andrey Rublev taking the 6th spot.

Taylor Fritz wins the 2022 Indian Wells

Coming back to the man of the hour, Taylor Fritz entered the tournament as the 20th seed. Being a seeded player, Fritz got a first-round bye and started his campaign from the second-round. Outplaying Kamil Majchrzak in the second-round and Jaume Munar in the third, Taylor set up a fourth-round clash with 29th seeded Alex De Minaur.

Thrashing De Minaur in three sets, Taylor went on beating Miomir Kecmanovic in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals faced the 7th seeded Andrey Rublev, beating him in straight sets. Winning the semifinals, Taylor next faced the in-form Rafael Nadal. The rest…is history.
