One can belch, cough, or sneeze in the church. In tennis, however, the slightest sound can cause disruption, but for Jannik Sinner, it turned out to be a comedic masterpiece. During his semifinal clash against Zhizhen Zhang, when Sinner was about to serve to equalize the second set, a fan’s sneeze caught him off-guard, and rather than anger, the World No. 1 reacted with a fit of laughter.
The high-stakes ATP Halle semifinal was a nail-biter as every shot displayed the top-tier skills of the two in pursuit of a spot in the final. As the tension mounted, a loud sneeze in the second set eased the environment in the stadium. Sinner, who threw the ball to serve let it fall as he could not control a large grin gracing his face. As he eventually returned to the baseline, he couldn’t even begin the motion before laughing once again and taking another brief pause.
Along with Sinner, Zhang also had to pause for a second to control his laugh. For a brief point of time the intensity of the match was punctuated by this surprising interruption.

Jannik Sinner’s and Nick Kyrgios’ laugh shows there is a fan interaction during a point
While any amount of noise is frowned upon during a match, it often leads to a wholesome moment. In a similar moment as Sinner’s, the 2019 Wimbledon saw Jordan Thompson face Nick Kyrgios in the first round, where the Aussie was unable to land his first serve at set point and said, “Can’t buy a first serve,” making the crowd laugh.
