The American tennis star didn’t have a great start to this new season as he faced some back-to-back initial-round defeats at both the Australian and Dallas Opens. Frances Tiafoe will now look to make amends at the ATP Tour 250 event taking place in the popular city in Palm Beach County. Entering the tournament as the second-seeded participant, Tiafoe swept aside his unseeded opponent Radu Albot in straight sets, 7-6, 7-6.

Flavio Cobolli, on the other hand, has secured a place in the main draw after his qualifying-round victories against the likes of Nicolas Moreno DeAlboran and Illya Marchenko. The Italian player then overcame his Japanese opponent, Taro Daniel, in the round of 32, before he also prevailed in his next game against the American Zachary Svajda.

The quarterfinal match between Tiafoe and Cobolli at the Delray Beach Open will also mark their first meeting on the ATP circuit. With no prior on-court confrontations between the ATP players, Tiafoe and Cobolli’s H2H record is currently locked at 0-0.

Prediction: Tiafoe to emerge victorious in the quarterfinals of the Delray Beach Open

Given his current seeding and past triumph at the Delray Beach Tennis Center, the former number 10 player will most likely prevail in this quarterfinal showdown. Cobolli, who is only 21 years old, has yet to make any notable impression on the tour, as he hasn’t won any ATP titles and is also outside the top 50 rankings.
