America’s Michael Mmoh suffered an elbow injury during the Challenger Savannah event in April 2024. As a result, he was completely ruled out for the rest of the season after that. However, Mmoh recently made a comeback at the Challenger Cleveland. In Cleveland, he won two matches and now in the 2025 Dallas Open, he has already clinched three wins in his previous three matches. Speaking on this, Mmoh said, “[It was a] very, very tough nine months. Didn’t know even a month and a half ago exactly what my situation was…So to be here a month and a half later at an ATP 500 winning matches is purely amazing.”

Casper Ruud vs Michael Mmoh: Preview
Casper Ruud was quite impressive last season. He reached the finals of the Los Cabos Open, the Mexican Open, and even the Monte Carlo Masters. However, the Norwegian star failed to make it count on all three occasions. Ruud won his first title of the 2024 season at the Barcelona Open. He defeated Greece’s Stefanos Tsitsipas by 7-5,6-3 in the final, and after that, he also won the Geneva Open. Casper Ruud even made it to the SF at the French Open and the ATP World Tour Finals last season. In 2025, he started his campaign at the AO but over there he made an early exit! However, Ruud will be entering this match following his hard-fought three-set victory over James Duckworth (AUS) in the R32.

So, considering all these factors we think it won’t be a tough job for the Norwegian to secure a victory in the R16. However, having said that there is no point in denying Mmoh’s incredible potential, and on his day, he surely can cause a few upsets in whichever tournament he plays. Now, if we take a look at their playing styles, Michael Mmoh is known for his aggressive style of play which is usually combined with power and precision. He is often seen utilizing his height to deliver strong serves and powerful groundstrokes. His two-handed backhand is particularly noteworthy, providing him with both depth and accuracy. He even has excellent footwork and court coverage.
On the other side, Casper Ruud is basically an offensive baseliner who hits with heavy topspin. His groundstrokes strength is his forehand, which he hits with heavy topspin. He’s a good server, but his backhand is generally on the weaker side. Ruud is often praised for his calm on-court demeanor and lack of emotional outbursts. Mmoh needs to prevent Ruud from playing his natural game and extend this match as long as he can so as to stand a chance in this match, but can he really do that? Well, it looks pretty much unlikely against the number 5 at the moment!
