After a rather disappointing 2023 season, Stefanos Tsitsipas will be looking to end things on a high note. Currently playing at the Antwerp Open, the top-seeded Greek player looks to be in great form and would be willing to make it as far as he could in the tournament. However, standing his way will be Yannick Hanfmann.

In a bid to secure a place in the semi-finals of the tournament, the two will lock horns and would want to secure the victory. But with Tsitsipas taking on Hanfmann, one question arises: Who among the two will be able to make their way into the semi-finals of the Antwerp Open 2023?

This year has clearly been a year of struggle for Stefanos Tsitsipas. With disappointing results throughout the year, he has come under a lot of scrutiny from the fans and even the tennis experts. With noteworthy performances coming at the Australian Open and Barcelona Open this year, where he managed to make it through to the finals, and a title win at the Los Cabos Open, he has struggled with form.

Coming at the Antwerp Open as the first seed, he looks to turn things around. After getting a bye in the first round, he went ahead to face Botic van de Zandschulp. In a match where many expected Tsitsipas to win, he stood right on everyone’s expectations and secured a straight-set win.

With a place now in the quarter-finals, he will be facing, Yannick Hanfmann. Coming into the tournament as a 5th-seeded player, he managed to defeat tournament favourites Dominic Thiem in a 3-set thriller and booked his spot into the quarter-finals of the tournament.

After a comfortable 6-4 win in the first set, Thiem responded with his defensive gameplay and managed to win the set 7-5. With all the eyes lying on the third and final set, it was Hanfamann yet again who went all in and secured the win with a scoreline of 6-4, 5-7, 6-4.

Tsitsipas vs Hanfmann: Head-to-head

The two have faced each other just once in their career and that match came at the Mallorca Open this year. Coming in as the defending champion, Stefanos Tsitsipas had high hopes going in. However, a stubborn Hanfamnn had some other plans.

In a three-set thriller, Tsitsipas suffered a shocker as Hanfmann managed to bag a win and stun the champion. However, this was the only head-to-head meeting between the two. Thus, at the moment, Hanfamnn has a 100% win record against him and would like to maintain his record as the two face off against each other at the Antwerp Open.

Prediction: Stefanos Tsitsipas manages to secure a place in the semi-finals

Despite his recent performances, he still is one of the top players on the tour. He has shown similar qualities at the Antwerp Open this year and is most likely to secure a win and book his seat into the semi-finals of the tournament. Moreover, he would like to put an end to the 100% win record that Hanfmann has over him, despite both facing each other just once.

On the other hand, Yannick Hanfmann would have to pull in some extraordinary stuff if he wishes to secure the win. Also, with a spot in the ATP Finals on the line, he would be willing to do whatever it takes to secure the win and lay his hands on the title.
