The 2021 season got off to a great start with the successful completion of the Australian Open 2021. However, this is just the start and fans will witness some really exciting tennis in the upcoming months.
There is some really great news for fans as the ATP has recently decided to host a tournament, the ATP 250 Sardegna Open 2021, in Cagliari, Italy. The tournament will be a clay-court event and will begin on April 5, 2021. The ATP has given a single-year license to the tournament and fans are definitely excited about it.
The tennis tournament will certainly add more charm to the Italian calendar, which is already flooded with tournaments. The ATP 1000 Masters Italian Open 2021 will take place almost at the same time and the Next Gen ATP Finals will also happen in Milan. In addition, the season’s end will happen in Italy with the Nitto ATP Finals 2021 in Turin this year.

With the Andalucia Open 2021 taking place in Spain, the players will have two tournaments to prepare for the French Open 2021. These two events will happen a week before the Roland Garros and will surely be helpful for the younger players.
The President of the Italian Tennis Federation believes the tournament will help make the Sardinia region a tourist destination
Angelo Bilaghi, the President of the Italian Tennis Federation, lauded his federation’s organizational skills. He highlighted that with this move, the ATP has shown confidence in the country’s tennis federation.

“The addition of this ATP 250 tournament to the already very rich programme of major international events in Italy reflects the confidence in the country’s organisational skills we enjoy around the world,” said Bilaghi.
Bilaghi also mentioned that the tennis tournament would provide help in promoting tourism in the Sardinia region.

“When the ATP invited us to present our candidacy to organise an ATP 250 in that week we did not hesitate to do so. It’s also a great opportunity to promote the appeal of the Sardinia region as a tourist destination during difficult times,” added the President.
The Sardegna Open 2021 will take place at the Cagliari Tennis Club. TV channel SuperTennis is the official broadcaster of the event and will bring the live-action to the viewers.
