Despite boasting immense potential, Stefanos Tsitsipas has had an inconsistent run of late. While 2024 was supposed to be one of the biggest seasons of his tennis career, the Greek tennis star has made early exits from the tournaments. At the Australian Open earlier this year, he bowed out of the tournament in the fourth round. He is currently in Mexico, playing in the ATP 500 tournament in Acapulco. He takes on Italy’s Flavio Cobolli next, in what could be an exciting matchup.

Following a disappointing start to the season, Tsitsipas dropped out of the top 10 of the ATP rankings. He will be eying a return among the world’s best by digging deep in the tournament. Let’s find out how the odds stack up for him.

The 25-year-old Tsitsipas is the fifth seed in Acapulco and one of the favorites to clinch the title. Additionally, he made a confident start to his campaign, defeating Roman Safiullin in straight sets 6-3, 6-4. Their match lasted under an hour and a half, with Tsitsipas breaking hardly any sweat en route to his victory.

On the contrary, Tsitsipas’ second-round opponent, Cobolli, had to dig deep in his opening-round contest. The Italian star gave it his all and overcame the challenge of Felix Auger-Aliassime in three sets 2-6, 6-3, 6-2. Entering the tournament as a qualifier, Cobolli will aim to be at his best when he faces Tsitsipas next.
