The ATP 500 tournament in Acapulco, Mexico is entering its business end. With some thrilling action over the past few days, only eight players remain in the fray to clinch the title here. Among them are Stefanos Tsitsipas and Alex de Minaur. The two have had a contrasting season by their standards. While Tsitsipas has disappointed this year, de Minaur has given his all to make it to the top 10 of the ATP rankings. As they face each other in the quarterfinal battle, let’s see how the odds stack up for them.
Earlier this year, de Minaur reached the finals of the ATP Rotterdam. Further, he has had a consistent run across the tournaments over the past few months. As a result, it will prove to be an exciting matchup between Tsitsipas and de Minaur.

Alex de Minaur vs Stefanos Tsitsipas: Preview
Tsitsipas entered the tournament on the back of some early defeats at the Australian Open and the Los Cabos Open. However, he has found his ground running at the ATP 500 tournament in Acapulco. The Greek player began his campaign here with an easy straight-set victory over Roman Safiullin 6-3, 6-4. Although he had to fight hard against Flavio Cobolli in the next round, Tsitsipas prevailed with 6-3, 7-6 (6).

On the contrary, de Minaur has broken hardly any sweat en route to his quarterfinal appearance. In the opening round, he breezed past Taro Daniel in under an hour and a half. Subsequently, he had a similar result over Sebastian Ofner of Austria in the second round. de Minaur has lost just seven games in the tournament and is looking in red hot form. However, he’ll have to be wary of his record against Tsitsipas.

de Minaur vs Tsitsipas: Head-to-Head
Interestingly, the battles between Tsitsipas and de Minaur have been fairly one-sided. In the 10 matches played between them, the Greek star has won all of them. Their last meeting came at Los Cabos in 2023 where Tsitsipas prevailed in straight sets 6-3, 6-4. Although de Minaur has a poor record against Tsitsipas, he looks set to open his account against the Greek tennis star.
