Sebastian Ofner in the opening round matches. In the quarterfinals, De Minaur overcame the fifth-seeded Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas in a three-set game, 1-6, 6-3, 6-3. Later, the Aussie was awarded a walkover after his British opponent, Jack Draper, picked up an injury in their semifinal encounter.

Casper Ruud, on the other hand, is coming to the tournament after a runner-up finish at the Los Cabos Open. In his initial round matches in Acapulco, the sixth-seeded Norwegian breezed past Christopher Eubanks and Dušan Lajović to reach the quarterfinals. Later, Ruud defeated Ben Shelton before his semifinal victory against the second-seeded Holger Rune in their three-set clash, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.

The championship game between De Minaur and Ruud at this season’s Mexican Open will also mark their third meeting on the ATP tour, with their H2H record currently locked at 1-1. In their previous encounter at the Next Gen ATP Finals in Milan, the Aussie came out on top in a three-set game. But in their first-ever meeting at the Braga Challenger, it was Ruud who defeated De Minaur with a score of 6-3, 6-2.
