In a recent interview, Taylor Fritz went ahead and talked about the change in the norms of the tournaments to make it more comfortable for both the players and the fans. Fritz thinks tennis should have two separate tours, where top players compete in big tournaments. He suggests 14 important events that everyone pays attention to, so fans don’t have to follow lots of smaller competitions. This means no more crazy schedules for players as it focuses on bigger games.

Fritz wants to simplify tennis for everyone, making it easier for both players and fans to enjoy the sport without all the extra events. With 14 key tournaments, the focus shifts to these marquee events, eliminating the reliance on lesser-ranked competitions like ATP 250s and 500s.

“It’s a really good idea, and I think that we should have separate tours,” said Fritz. “If you’re on the main, top tour, you should be set to play all the big events, and they should all be slightly bigger-draw events to get basically everybody in the top 100 in, and I think that’s honestly all we should play.

“You can have 14 marquee events, and it makes tennis easy to follow for fans because all you have to pay attention to is those tournaments. There’s no people getting tons of points in between events, at like [ATP] 250’s and 500’s, and more than anything, there’s no crazy schedule for us players,” he further continued.

Thus, Taylor Fritz came up with an idea that could not only change the dynamics of the game but also lessen the burden that the players have on themselves. With the introduction of Marquee events, lesser-ranked players would also get a chance to showcase their skills in top events.
