The American tennis star, Sebastian Korda’s season, was largely hindered by his injury that he picked up at the Grand Slam event in Melbourne Park. Since then, the 22-year-old player has missed out on a lot of action due to his wrist injury woes. However, despite being out for several months, the currently ranked world No. 32 player has made a huge assertion about clinching the forthcoming Wimbledon Championships.

It has come as a huge surprise for the entire tennis community who are doubtful that Korda is among the favorites to win the grass-court major event. Amidst all the skepticism surrounding him, Serena Williams‘ former coach, Rick Macci, has now come forward to give a huge shout-out to his countryman.

The American tennis star had a great start to the grass season given his recent performances at the ongoing Queen’s Club Championships, where he has reached the quarterfinal round of the tournament. During the event, Sebastian Korda also surprised everyone by calling himself one of the favorites to clinch the grass-court major title alongside elite players like Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz.

Even though the 22-year-old player has a great grasscourt skill set, the tennis community is skeptical about his assertion of winning the Wimbledon Championships title. Amidst all the talks and rumors, the legendary American coach, Rick Macci, is all praises for his compatriot.

On his Twitter account, he said, “Of all the players I have seen SEBEE kORDA is the MOST UNIQUE that can STING you in many subtle ways. He understands the geometry of the court but most of all has the tools to make you feel rushed and off balance. Around the corner top 3 for SEBEE.”

Macci also stated, “Playing on grass is almost a different sport mentally technically athletically physically and strategically.”

Macci has always believed that Korda can win various major titles

This is not the first time that the legendary tennis coach has lavished praise on his young countryman. Even in an old interview, Macci asserted that the currently ranked world No. 32 player is capable of winning many Grand Slam titles, including Wimbledon as he only needs to make a few improvements to his game. In the process, he also compared him to the Swiss tennis legend, Roger Federer, who had a similar two-handed backhand on the court.
