The diet that the former World No.1 follows might be somewhat different from what the other athletes/players stick to. The Serbian ace follows a vegan diet. And Djokovic is not the only one in his family to opt for a vegan diet. His wife, Jelena, is also vegan.
Djokovic understands his body and is extremely attentive to his bodily needs. Moreover, this was the only reason for him to take a stand against the Covid-19 vaccine; the World No. 5 didn’t want an unknown substance to be injected into his body. The Serbian ace is exceptionally disciplined when it comes to his diet. Moreover, he even publishes his diet plan in his book, “Serve to Win: The 14-Day Gluten-Free Plan for Physical and Mental Excellence.” Yes, Djokovic and Jelena follow a plant-based and gluten-free diet. He starts his day with warm water and lemon followed by celery juice and an anti-oxidant rich green smoothie.

However, Djokovic’s diet is based on this fundamental fact- he doesn’t consume anything that requires a lot of energy to digest. This is certainly true, as the first part of the day is all about training, which requires all the energy. In addition to the green smoothie, the mixed-green salad also make-up an essential part of the Serb’s meals.
The former World No.1’s dedication to his diet was highlighted during an incident, back in 2016. After the US Open that year, the Serbian ace craved for chocolates. However, not wanting to hinder his diet, he just had one square.
