Although players getting criticized and, on rare occasions, threats from angry fans are a common occurrence, Rune has had to deal with a peculiar situation. His family has become a target of malicious accounts in the tennis world.
Although the 20-year-old is giving his best, he and his family are facing a lot of flak because of his recent performances. Now his sister has found a clear way to deal with all the negative messages she has been receiving from fans.

The Danish tennis player’s sister, Alma, was subjected to social media abuse following her brother’s recent loss at the 2023 Shanghai Masters. The fifth-seeded tennis player faced a shocking upset in the first round of the tournament. This is his sixth defeat since reaching the Wimbledon quarterfinal and facing a defeat from Carlos Alcaraz.
Following his dismissal, Alma was on the receiving end of continuous abuse on social media. Recently, she issued a public statement condemning the act. In addition, she also made a huge revelation regarding how she and her family were receiving threats on social media. Along with that, she also gave a warning that she would be taking the matter to the police if the abusive messages didn’t stop.
She wrote, “Just to be very clear, threats against me & my family has & will be reported to the police, and for information, the consequences are not milder because it’s online. And for all the other hateful messages.. please, it doesn’t hurt to try and be nice.”

Further, she also asked everyone to show kindness to others rather than pointing fingers. Nearly a week ago, the 8th-seeded tennis player talked about figuring out a way out of trouble to get better on the tennis court.

Rune kicked off his 2023 tennis season in good form. But since Wimbledon, he has not managed to go past the initial rounds in any tournament. During the China Open, after facing a second-round defeat, he highlighted how increasing struggles with injury have stopped him from playing his best.
Along with that, he also highlighted how he is trying to fix it. He said, “I feel like I can’t play at the level I want; even if I want and am willing to give 100%, I can’t have the same speed in the serve and get the free points I want.” Moreover, his injuries have been a big obstacle in his current efforts to regain his form.
