Andy Roddick's clapback—Is he the king of comebacks or just stirring the pot?

Who is ahead? A question in every American’s head after the conclusion of Tuesday night’s presidential debate between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump. However, Taylor Swift’s post on Harris came as a surprise for many, as the aftermath caught the world by storm. In addition to nudging things towards democrats, it also started an online banter on social media. And Andy Roddick found himself in the middle of one such debate, with “childless cat lady” in the middle!

Right after the heated debate was over, the decorated singer shared her thoughts on her choice of candidate: Kamala Harris. Swift’s post prompted a spectacular reaction from the fans on Instagram, garnering over 10 Mn likes in a day! Per BBC, nearly 340,000 individuals used a special link that Swift generated and posted to visit the voter registration website, vote.gov, within a day of her announcement.
Harris was referred to by Swift as a “steady-handed, gifted leader”; in 2020, Swift also supported Democratic President Joe Biden. This led many fans, including CNN anchor, Abby D. Phillip, to see it as an endorsement post.

Phillip started an X thread by posting Swift’s snippet on Instagram: her with a cat, and her thoughts on elections with a caption: “The Taylor Swift endorsement has landed.” In response to this, Roddick tweeted the following words:

Have an interesting take?

Why is there such a loud noise about the words she used for signing off, “Childless Cat Lady”? Back in 2021, Trump’s running mate JD Vance faced a backlash over a clip where he called several democrats (including Harris), “a bunch of childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives.” Which he later on called as “sarcastic”.

Well, in response to Roddick’s tweet, an unhappy user responded with, “I won’t be attending any of her concerts!” However, Roddick didn’t take things lying down, as he came up with a hilarious yet somewhat sarcastic response to the above user. As he said, “S–t …she’ll never make it!” It seems election fervor has certainly taken over the whole of the United States. And Taylor Swift has led the charge with a terrific endorsement for Harris!

While Taylor Swift’s endorses Harris, Andy Roddick and others hilariously react to Presidential debate

While the multiple Grammy-winning singer is at the helm in her support for Democrats, tennis players and legends alike have also made a few remarks after former president Trump’s speech. In addition to Andy Roddick, Christopher Eubanks, Pam Shriver, and Serena Williams’ husband, among others, were teens inclined toward Democrats while taking hilarious digs at Trump.

Alexis Ohanian posted a snippet while hugging his dog with the caption, “Gonna hug my dogs extra tonight. No one’s gonna eat you guys.” This came in response to the Trump’s words against illegal immigrants, which claimed that they targeted families and kidnapped their pets before devouring them. Many others, including Eubanks, Navratilova, and Roddick, joined him. Roddick retweeted Ohanian’s post while taking a sarcastic dig at the former president. He said, “Wimbledon finals 2009 would have never happened if I was there ……. Never woulda happened.”

What do the polls tell us, though? There have been a few small-scale snap polls, but it will take several days for the larger national and state-level surveys to show any shifts. 54% of registered voters who saw at least a portion of the discussion believed Harris won, while 31% believed Trump did, according to a YouGov survey of over 2,000 respondents.

A CNN/SSRS survey of 600 registered voters who watched the debate revealed that 63% thought Harris performed better than Trump, while 37% agreed with Trump. It would be interesting to see who would take charge of the USA in November!
