Kevin Hart's dedication to the US Open—Is he the ultimate sports fan or just plain crazy?

The US Open and entertainment go hand-in-hand. There is no shortage of star power at the tournament as many celebrities from across the globe descend to New York to witness one of tennis’ biggest tournaments. This year is no exception. Over the past few days, we have seen the likes of Elizabeth Banks and Sutton Stracke enjoy the action at Flushing Meadows. This year, the American comedian and actor, Kevin Hart, also witnessed the action at the Arthur Ashe Stadium. He was in attendance during Frances Tiafoe’s match against Grigor Dimitrov, which the former won. As he made his presence felt at the US Open, one of the videos of Kevin Hart went viral.

Yesterday, Hart appeared on The Tonight Show where that viral video was replayed. In the video, Hart could be seen struggling to keep pace with an intriguing rally, as he was moving his head frantically back and forth. On the other hand, Roger Federer could be seen enjoying the action calmly. Later, Andy Roddick reacted to that clip on X.

Despite Hart’s struggles, Roddick was impressed with the fact that the comedian was taking a keen interest in tennis. The American legend lauded Hart for his commitment to watching the match despite fans blocking his view of the court, as he took to his official X handle and commented, “This is perfect. @KevinHart4real never takes a play off.”

During The Tonight Show, Jimmy Fallon asked Hart if he realized that he was moving his head frantically. Replying to that, Hart mentioned, “Absolutely not. No. I gotta be just 1,000% honest. I couldn’t see! So it looks like I’m doing something at the boy’s head. I was like, ‘Move, man! Scoot down a little bit! Scoot down a little bit so I can watch. So I can see!’ I don’t know why he sat there. That was so selfish.”

Apart from reacting to that Kevin Hart video, Andy Roddick has been quite active with his assessment of all things US Open. He has often provided his analysis and opinion on various things related to the tournament. A few days back, he made a massive prediction about the American stars at the tournament.

Have an interesting take?

Interestingly, Andy Roddick was the last American men’s singles champion at the US Open, winning the title back in 2003. Despite nobody else replicating his feat in the past 20 years, Roddick was hopeful about a good showing from the American stars in this edition of the tournament.

He said, “Specifically with the American men, as we currently stand, we have 25% of the Top 20 men [in the world rankings]. That’s a big deal. Five in the Top 20 on the men’s side, five in the Top 20 on the women’s side. It seems like they have kind of this healthy jealousy where they all get along, they all respect each other, they all support each other. But also, I feel there’s a little bit of FOMO if someone makes a run to the semis. I hope someone breaks out in a big way.”

Andy Roddick has got his prediction on point as there will surely be an American star playing this year’s US Open men’s singles final. Later today, Frances Tiafoe will square off against Taylor Fritz in an all-American semifinal encounter. It’ll be interesting to see if the jinx can be broken and the local fans can get a champion from their country at this year’s US Open. What do you think?
