Former tennis pro, Tomas Berdych has expressed his excitement over Novak Djokovic’s partnership with Andy Murray. Djokovic appointed his old friend and long-rival Murray as his coach for the upcoming Australian Open tournament. He announced his partnership with a heartfelt note – “We’ve played each other since we were boys—25 years of being rivals, pushing each other beyond our limits. Our battles were some of the most epic in tennis history. They called us game-changers, risk-takers, history-makers. I thought our story was over, but it turns out there’s one final chapter. It’s time for one of my toughest opponents to step into my corner. Welcome aboard, Coach Andy Murray.” Djokovic’s words reflect admiration and deep respect for the Briton legend giving a peek into their amazing friendship. This Djokovic-Murray partnership offered great hope to the fraternity including the Czech former player.
In an interview with the Tennis major, Berdych was asked whether he would have coached Djokovic if asked, and his response was truly admiring. “Honestly, This is a very unique thing. I really want to see that in Australia. Obviously, I know both of them very well from my experience on the court. The pairing of two in our sport is something that never happened. But these two guys being on the same side will be really interesting to watch. Honestly, I’m very lucky to have played against them and now to be able to see them on the same side of the court and Andy in the box. Who knows how that might work? But I’m sure that they have all the pedigrees to make it happen,” said the former pro. His statement highlight his hope for this partnership. Berdych also highlighted that Murray and Djokovic on the same side of the court might be potentially great for the Serb’s dream of another major title.

Pereira also dropped his opinion on Novak Djokovic’s partnership with Murray. In Tennis Channel’s Inside-in Podcast, he said, “Novak has always been an innovator. Well when you remember, he brought Agassi at a point, He brought in Becker, he brought Ivanisevic after then when Ivanisevic good stint with Gritsch, but he was known as a coach. Novak was a student of the game and none you know no one is close to the student of the game than Sir Andy. So, I think so it’s a great choice.”
