Every tennis player hopes to start a new season with a bang! But that doesn’t happen always; if there’s a victory, there are going to be losses. Recently, Andy Murray became a part of the few tennis players who faced an early defeat at the beginning of the year. However, rather than losing hope, he cited one of the advantages of carrying the downfall as a player.
The former world number one British tennis player recently faced defeat against Grigor Dimitrov in the Brisbane International. But after the match, rather than feeling down, Murray was quite energetic.

Ahead of the Australian Open, Murray is in no mood to keep his energy down. Even after facing a defeat just before the first Grand Slam tournament, he decided to focus on the little bright side, which he revealed in an interview after the match. Having to talk so much after a tiring match is difficult, isn’t it?
After David Basheer wrapped up an on-court interview with the 36-year-old in the currently ongoing Brisbane International, he revealed the processing plans following the event. Basheer stated, “Great to see you down here and I think Pat Cash will ask you questions in commentary if you’re up for it?”
Listening to this, Murray was left bemused and replied, “I thought only the winner had to do that?” While the Grand Slam Champion had put his plans on hold, he also highlighted the advantages of losing a match. He stated, “That was one of the advantages to losing—not doing all the extra press stuff.”
Rather than feeling defeated, the former world number one was ready to move forward with his plans for the day, but he got interrupted by interviews that were supposed to be for the match winners. However, this is not the first time he has grabbed attention with his humor. A few months ago, he took a cheeky jibe at his compatriot, leveling up his humor game.
When Murray showed off his humorous side
As a lot of tennis fans might be aware, the British tennis player has a statue of himself as a warrior and a player in China after winning the 2011 Shanghai Masters. A few months ago, during the same tournament, another player, Neal Skupski, posed with the statue.

After looking at the picture, the 36-year-old shared a humorous comment, making a cheeky comment at his compatriot. The two-time Olympic gold medalist wrote, “What’s your left hand doing Nelly?”. Even though the nature of the sport is quite serious now and then, players always find a way to display their playful side on and off the tennis court.
