The current season might not have recorded any evident positions for Andrey Rublev but it won’t be wise to judge his performance over that. Throughout his journey in the world of tennis, the Russian ATP star has presented notable performances, winning titles and stunning all of the big threes.

The never-ending debate about the big three of the tennis world has been a subjective opinion. While every player in the circuit has his own story revolving around the big threes, it was the only competition against Rafael Nadal that has occupied his mind all along.

In a recent interview, tennis star Andrey Rublev shared insights into his admiration for Rafael Nadal, regarding him as his top pick among the big threes. Giving out the fact that he was inspired by the Spaniard right from his childhood, Rublev said, “I rooted for Nadal the most, because when I was little, I liked him.”

Despite facing as well as securing victories over both Djokovic and Federer, Rublev placed Nadal at the top. Besides them, Rublev has faced Nadal on three occasions, with Nadal emerging victorious in two of their encounters. However, it was Rublev’s solo triumph in their encounter at the Rolex Masters that left a lasting impact.

This victory not only showcased Rublev’s growing prowess but also induced a deeper respect for Nadal in his mind. However, this statement of picking Nadal is just another moment of Rublev expressing his admiration towards the Spaniard.

Andrey Rublev’s firm belief in Nadal’s comeback

Andrey Rublev has always presented faith in Rafael Nadal’s journey, even during situations of doubt. Back when Rafael Nadal was getting himself ready to step back on the courts in Brisbane, Rublev stepped forward to present a positive statement, despite noting the facts that the odds stood to be against him.

“I will not be surprised if he will prove it again and wins more slams,” Rublev said, giving out his confident thoughts about the game-changing potential of Rafa. Along with that, he also mentioned how the big threes have defied the negative thoughts of fans, saying, “Everybody was saying, now the time of Roger or time of Rafa or time of Novak, is coming to an end’ and they always proved them wrong.”
