While being a legendary figure on the tennis circuit, Andre Agassi has joined hands with some of the biggest brands, including Nike. As he was the face of American athletic footwear and apparel for a considerable period, mainly the 90s, did you know that the 8-time singles Grand Slam champion once got to collaborate with the Red Hot Chili Peppers?
The Hall of Famer was with Nike from 1988–2005 before he re-signed with the Swoosh in 2013. During this period, Agassi once played ‘Rock ‘n Roll’ tennis with the American band’s vocalist Anthony Kiedis, and bassist Flea, as they made an appearance in an iconic Nike advertisement.

When Andre Agassi played ‘Rock n’ Roll’ tennis
Back in 1990, the sports fashion powerhouse came up with the idea of a fusion of rock music and the racket sport. In their advertisement, Nike brought together the greatness of the ’90s great music, and one of the greatest athletes in the tennis community—the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Andre Agassi.
As they were there at Andre Agassi’s ‘Rock ‘n Roll’ Tennis Camp, the members of the American rock band witnessed some stellar forehand and backhand shots of the American tennis legend on the court. In the Nike advertisement, the former tennis ace was also heard saying, “Let’s dance,” before the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ bassist Flea said, “Hit the ball as loud as you can.” Aside from this, the 8-time singles Grand Slam champion also made an appearance in many classic advertisements for the sports brand.

Agassi’s iconic old advertisements for Nike
In 1994, the American athletic footwear and apparel brand also signed Agassi’s fierce rival on the men’s tour, Pete Sampras. As they were both the brand ambassadors of Nike at the time, Agassi and Sampras took to the streets for an impromptu match in an advertisement that was shot in downtown San Francisco. As their rivalry wound down in the 2000s, the renowned sports brand also opted to show the softer side of the ATP veterans in another advertisement.
Not just tennis, but Nike also used the Hall of Famer to take on the golfing establishment in 1993. An old commercial featured Agassi and his friend Perry Rogers playing a round of golf at what looked like a location near the Spanish Hills Estates in Las Vegas, NV.
