Milos Raonic shares an update on the premium tour situation
There have been a lot of discussions going on regarding the idea of having a premium elite tour, apart from the ATP tour. While Americans are quite up for it, tennis fans are not sure how this would turn out. Amidst the chaos, Milos Raonic, in a recent podcast conversation, talked about the complicated situation.
He said, “Does it start the year after, like getting this all? It’s not that way. Don’t forget, you need supermajority in ATP, you need two out of three votes on the players’ side, you need two out of three votes on the tournament side. Don’t forget two of those three votes, or 500s and 250. Are they gonna be happy about feeling accepted as a lower-tier event?”
Along with that, he highlighted that it’s a lot more complicated than what the speculations are going on. To bring the plan into action, there are a lot of things that need to be taken care of. Subsequently, the 32-year-old tennis star also questions that, with this premium tour coming into action, what will be the thinking of the low-ranked tennis players who are trying to give their best?
Nevertheless, he is not the first one to talk about the controversial take. While he talked about the different aspects of making a place for a new tour, before him, an American tennis player, Taylor Fritz, also shared his take on the debacle.

Taylor Fritz’s take on the controversial topic
Just a few days ago, the American tennis player voted in favor of bringing a new tour. While the idea of him supporting an elite tour plan upsets a lot of tennis fans, he has his own reasons to support the debacle. In one of the recent interviews, he said, “You can have 14 marquee events, and it makes tennis easy to follow for fans because all you have to pay attention to is those tournaments.”
However, he talked about how it will be quite easy for tennis fans to follow the best tours and the best tennis players on the court with this new pattern. He openly shared his belief that a player on the top tour should be given this opportunity to play all the main tours, making their journey easier.
