The ATP Finals has players from around the world. However, there are no players currently from the US. The roster comprises players exclusively from Europe. However, that has not discouraged former American star Andy Roddick from making a prophecy about the 2024 ATP Finals. The 2003 US Open champion believes that the ATP Finals will see Ben Shelton as the first player from the US next year.
Roddick seemingly favors Shelton quite a bit. He has picked the American youngster over many other stars. Despite being one of his favorites, Roddick believes that Shelton still has a lot of room for improvement.

The ATP young gun surprised the tennis world this year when he reached the semifinal of the US Open. His exploits following the tournament only served to boost his popularity. Now, he has great opportunities in front of him to reach his full potential as a tennis player. These thoughts are of none other than Andy Roddick.
Andy Roddick has noticed his potential and picked Shelton as the favorite American to play in the ATP Finals in 2024 and said, “Personally, if I had to choose one, I think I would go with Ben Shelton. The guy’s currently 17 in the world, has made runs at Slams already, and all the while he’s still figuring out how to play.. like he left the country this year, for the first time in his life. It’s only gonna go up.”
He also talked about his improving consistency. “I love that post US Open, he was consistent back-to-back weeks & for the first time found that level of consistency…“

After his retirement, Roddick became a tennis analyst and has talked about the sport along with Tennis Channel. In the same segment where he chose Shelton as his ATP Finals player next year, he also talked about the other American stars. He stated that he wanted to pick all of them but could only pick one.
Roddick stated, “They told me to pick 1. I wish I could pick them all… If you look at Sebastian Korda, Ben Shelton, Frances Tiafoe, Tommy Paul & Taylor Fritz, we have five contenders for a spot of the ATP Tour finals next year. I don’t know when was the last time we could actually say that.”
