A new issue has surfaced on the ATP circuit, but this time the tennis players are entirely forthcoming. Many well-known athletes, including Stefanos Tsitsipas and Daniil Medvedev, have pointed fingers at the ATP Tour fault for the increase in injuries from time to time. But now another ATP star, Taylor Fritz, has attempted to spark the topic by bringing up his reference to the same issue.

They have been joined by other ATP players who have been experiencing the same problem ever since the issue was brought up. But it appears that there is no way to prevent players from speaking out about the rule that caused pandemonium in the first place.

All of this began when Tsitsipas and Medvedev criticized the numerous ball changes that occur in every event for raising the possibility of injuries. Since the issue was raised, there has been no going back. After the Greek tennis player, the 25-year-old American tennis player has also come forward to share his side of the story on whether he agrees with the reason for the rising injuries or not.

Fritz recently took to his Twitter account to share his side of the story. He wrote, “Have been dealing w wrist issues since beginning of USO series cause of ball changes✌🏻we went 3 different balls in 3 weeks.”

Along with this, he posted a tweet in which several tennis players expressed the same concern about how many tennis players have started suffering wrist or hand ailments this year. In addition, he emphasized that this is something that happened as a result of the frequent ball changes, and how it is causing problems and leading to injuries.

Nevertheless, let’s take a look at what 2023 Australian Open‘s Greek finalist, who suffered a shoulder injury earlier this year had to say about the controversy.

When Stefanos Tsitsipas raised his concerns regarding the controversy

The 5th-ranked tennis player was among the first tennis players to raise this concern openly with tennis fans. According to SDNA, he said, “I think the biggest issue this year was the change in balls, and that was an issue that has been discussed among the players. Balls need to stay the same in most tournaments and especially on hard surfaces.”

This statement came out earlier in March, when he emphasized the importance of maintaining consistency in the types of balls used in order to prevent injuries. Along with that, he also claimed that the shoulder injury he had after the Australian Open was due to the change in balls. What is your take on the ball-changing controversy?
