American Tennis Star Taylor Fritz Brings Out His Inner Roger Federer Fandom at Laver Cup as He Makes ‘Intimidating’ Statement

Roger Federer will be the answer of many when asked to pick a favorite from the big three. The Swiss Maestro has inspired an entire generation of tennis players who are now in their prime. Taylor Fritz is one of those who loves the 20-time Grand Slam champion. When asked about who he would love to watch him play, his answer was quite obvious.

Fritz, being a player of the Team World in 2022 as well, got the chance to be present on one of the most memorable nights in tennis. He was able to see Federer play his last match and shared a heartfelt message with the legend. Now, he gets to be the player Federer watches often.

The American number 1 has put on good performances this year, which is why he was invited to the Laver Cup. Being their highest-ranked player, Fritz’s match was the most anticipated one, and he didn’t disappoint. He faced Andrey Rublev and beat him in straight sets. After the match, he was asked about who he wanted to watch the most out of the Federer,  Nadal and Djokovic trio. He quickly answered with none other than Roger Federer.

“Watching? Intimidating, I’m not quite sure. For me, when it’s Roger watching, that’s probably, like, what I’d be the most excited about, of the three of them. Probably would be the most excited about Roger watching, bc I just always looked up to Roger so much.”

His wish came true as the Swiss Maestro attended the tournament, which he helped create, and saw him win his match for Team World. While Fritz was happy about Federer playing in his match, Fritz managed to witness to one of the life-changing moments of Federer.

Fritz’s endearing message to Federer

The first day of the 2022 Laver Cup ended in tears as Federer played his last match and retired from professional tennis. The Swiss Maestro was surrounded by those who loved him. Although he lost his final match, Taylor Fritz, one of his biggest fans, was still focused on the Swiss former player. He also managed to share an endearing moment with his idol. Fritz said, “Thank you for everything you’ve done for the sport, Roger.“

The American star managed to see off his idol on a great platform. Now that Fritz is playing on the same stage, the Swiss Maestro will get to witness the ATP number 8 go ahead in the sport.
