Andre Agassi’s definitely got some sense of humor, and its most recent example surfaced in Melbourne. The American tennis legend was spotted in Melbourne ahead of the 2024 Australian Open with none other than current ATP World No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz. They shared a candid moment together, and both of them seemed in good spirits.
The duo also shared a few laughs, and all of it stemmed from Agassi trolling himself in front of the talented Spaniard. But how did Agassi troll himself? And what did young Alcaraz have to say in response?

Cameras caught Agassi and Alcaraz all smiles as they engaged in a candid discussion. Initially, when the cameras were at a fair distance away, the discussion was inaudible. However, as they came closer to the duo, it became clear what they were talking about.

Agassi had Alcaraz’s racket in his hands and was analyzing its string tension. While the string tension on Alcaraz’s racket has been tuned to his preferences and the modern game’s demands, Agassi found it quite bewildering. At a particular moment, Agassi imagined himself playing with the racket and said, “If I hit with this, it goes..”, following which he made a gesture suggesting that the ball would fly all over the place if he indeed played with Alcaraz’s trusted weapon.
Alcaraz couldn’t help but laugh at Agassi’s remark, and the humble youngster from Spain’s Murcia answered, “to the line.. you mean to the line”, suggesting that the veteran would have no trouble in handling his racket. Agassi wasn’t done yet, as he used his hands and spoke, “It starts here (with his hand low) and it goes here (with his hand in a much higher position)“. Well, Alcaraz would certainly hope that Agassi’s imagination doesn’t turn into his own reality in the weeks ahead.

Carlos Alcaraz poised to stake his claim for a maiden Australian Open crown
2023 proved to be a mixed bag for Carlos Alcaraz. While the Wimbledon title was undoubtedly the Spaniard’s highlight of the season, it ended on a rather tame note as he fell prey to fatigue. However, after a brief off-season, Alcaraz would be hoping to make a solid impression in Melbourne, where his record so far isn’t the greatest.
Alcaraz’s best Australian Open run came in 2022. The Spaniard, then ranked World No. 31, faced an in-form Matteo Berrettini and failed to get bast the Italian. Things though, have drastically changed since then, and Alcaraz finds himself only behind Novak Djokovic in the ATP rankings. What do you think? Does Carlos Alcaraz have a realistic chance of winning his third Grand Slam and a maiden Australian Open crown? Let us know in the comments.
