Legendary tennis player Jimmy Connors recently opened up about the precious advice he received from his grandmother, Gloria. In the recent episode of his regular podcast series Advantage Connors, the legend reflected on how Grandma Glo’s words of wisdom not only blessed him with a fresh approach to tennis but also provided him with valuable life lessons.

According to Connors, one of the most life-changing advice from his grandmother was, “no matter what the outcome, the outcome was never what you don’t want it to be.” Explaining the details of the statement, he added, “She always said to me, ‘if you lose a tennis match, maybe you lost that tennis match, but you can always do something about it.’ It’s the same in life. Everything won’t always go your way, but as long as you understand that and try to do something about it, that’s what matters most.”
