In the world of professional tennis, where people chase their dreams and become champions, there’s a special story. After the US Open, one name stands out: Ben Shelton. Ben Shelton, the college tennis boy on the ATP tennis tour, made a name for himself after his astounding run till the SF of the US Open. Amongst the many mouths that have talked about Shelton, one prominent name includes Sebastian Korda.

As Korda prepares for his first tournament in China, he name-dropped Shelton for his recent run at the US Open. Korda also highlighted the impact he holds over the youth.

Regardless of looking formidable, Shelton’s journey at the US Open ended in the semis, where he faced the eventual champion, Novak Djokovic. But what caught Korda’s attention wasn’t just the results. It was the exciting way that Shelton and other American players like Frances Tiafoe and Taylor Fritz played, engaging with the big crowds and making headlines.

“I think it is really great for American tennis [and] hopefully tennis in general. Hopefully we [are providing good] entertainment in some way. I think Ben did a great job at the US Open. He just really showed the world what he’s capable of and what he can do in the near future. And he’s got a great game. [He is] powerful, entertaining [and he] loves to kind of interact with fans as well.

Korda also highlighted Shelton’s ability to draw in a young crowd and admitted that it pushed him to develop rapidly. “I think he’s a great role model for younger kids with the way that he plays. I think it’s awesome. It definitely pushes all of us to do better. And obviously, it shows the way, that it is possible for someone like him, or of any age, to be out there performing like him,” he added  according to ATP.

Korda, who had a tough five-set match against Marton Fucsovics at the US Open this year, is now gearing up for his first match in China at the Huafa Properties Zhuhai Championships. He could face either Alexander Muller or Rinky Hijikata. The American aims to prove his mettle in a prestigious tournament as he makes his way back to the court.

Sebastian Korda, the American star hopes to fulfill his own potential by embarking on a comeback tour. The shooting star of American tennis hit the court with a bang but suffered a wrist injury that temporarily halted his meteoric rise. However, Korda seems determined to make waves like his compatriot, Ben Shelton did at the US Open this year, in China.
