Australian tennis ace Nick Kyrgios is all set to start his campaign in the US Open. The 27-year-old had good practice before the prestigious tournament. He played in the Atlanta Open, Citi Open, Canadian Open, and the Cincinnati Masters to prepare for the hard court slam. Now that there are only a few days left for his US Open campaign to begin, Kyrgios remembered the late Kobe Bryant.

Nick Kyrgios remembers Kobe Bryant
Kyrgios is one of the biggest admirers of five-time NBA champion, Kobe Bryant. Notably, the NBA legend passed away in an unfortunate helicopter crash in January 2020. Kyrgios gave a special tribute to his hero. The 27-year-old wore a unique t-shirt with Kobe’s picture imprinted on it. It also had the name of Kobe Bryant on the top. With ‘legends live forever’ written on the bottom. Kyrgios shared the picture on his Instagram story.
Previously, the Aussie also dedicated an arm tattoo to the NBA legend. Speaking about it, he said, “I can never imitate what Kobe did, but there may be times in my life when I try.”
Meanwhile, Kyrgios ended his Cincinnati Masters campaign with a straight sets defeat against Taylor Fritz of the USA. Further, the Aussie will play his first match of the US Open on Monday.
Kyrgios to face his doubles partner in the tournament opener

The first-round match for Nick Kyrgios will be an emotional one as he will lock horns with his compatriot and good friend Thanasi Kokkinakis. The pair plays together in doubles and it will be the first time they will face each other on the tour.
Notably, the pair won the Australian Open men’s doubles earlier this year. Defending champion Daniil Medvedev also features in the Aussie’s quarter of the draw. Earlier this year, the 27-year-old performed brilliantly in the Wimbledon Championships. Kyrgios had a dream run that saw him reach his first Grand Slam final. However, the Australian lost to the defending champion Novak Djokovic in the finals.
