The Serbian tennis star, Novak Djokovic has had a bittersweet season while outclassing some of the best players on the ATP tour. Despite winning various titles including Wimbledon, Djokovic went through a dark phase of his journey. The Wimbledon champion faced deportation from Australia because of his vaccination status when he landed in the country.

Notably, the 21-time singles Grand Slam champion recently opened up about the challenges he faced when he tried to participate in the Australian Open this season. Djokovic further revealed that he has to move on from his previous experiences in Australia.

The 21-time singles Grand Slam champion previously faced a three-year travel ban from Australia because of his vaccination stance. However, Novak Djokovic’s fans were delighted when they received the news of the ban being waived, after the recent guidelines of the country. As a result, the Serbian tennis star has returned to Australia in order to participate in the upcoming Grand Slam event.

Djokovic was further featured in a press conference after his return to the country. During the conference, he opened up about the dark phase when he faced deportation from Australia. Djokovic stated, “You can’t forget those events, it’s one of those things that stick with you,” 

The former world No. 1 tennis player had a great season as he clinched many titles including Wimbledon. However, his season was affected by his deportation from the country. Djokovic added that it was a valuable life experience for him.

The Serbian tennis star went on to say he has to move on from his past experiences in Australia. Djokovic added that his return to the country speaks about how he feels about the place. And it also expresses Djokovic’s feelings about playing in the sporting nation. The world No. 5, who has won the Grand Slam title nine times, is geared up again to add another under his belt.

During the press conference, the 21-time singles Grand Slam champion also said that Australia is a great place as a tennis community. Djokovic added that people in Adelaide love sports and it is a sporting nation. Notably, the Serbian went on to say that he is expecting a lot of fans to watch the upcoming Grand Slam event.

Djokovic stated that he will do his best to deliver some great performances to amuse the crowd. He further said that it’s been his favorite Grand Slam event.
