How Novak Djokovic met Jelena Ristic

Many of our fans might not be aware that Jelena is a year older than Novak and the two met for the first time in high school. It was in 2005 when they started dating. While Djokovic was rapidly climbing the ladders of success, Jelena had absolute clarity regarding her career.

Instead of accompanying her boyfriend on the ATP tour, she chose to pursue higher education and moved to Italy. After getting a degree in Sports business management and International Management from Monaco University, she returned and became the head of the Novak Djokovic foundation.

The couple dated for a long time before finally exchanging vows in 2014. Weeks later, they welcomed their first child. Currently, the beautiful couple has two kids, Stefan and Tara. The couple came from strength to strength and are deeply in love. We often see Jelena fighting it out with the critics and social media haters whenever someone speaks against Novak. The 21-time Grand Slam champion is truly a lucky man.

Funny first date of Novak and Jelena

For their first date, Djokovic took Jelena to a restaurant. To impress her, he ordered a steak tartare. However, when the dish arrived, it was clear to Jelena that the young man had no idea about the dish. While Jelena had a good laugh at Novak’s little misadventure, she made sure to give him another chance to impress her.

After that, the couple only grew more in love and are happily married for over eight years now. Djokovic is in the final few years of his tennis career now. Djokovic is a thorough gentleman and a perfect family man. Recently in a post-match interview at Australian Open 2023, the Serb got emotional as the interviewer asked him about his daughter Tara.
