Nick Kyrgios is a player who always seems to find himself in the news for all the wrong reasons. However, there has been a slight change. Kyrgios now always has a companion who supports him through thick and thin. It is none other than his girlfriend, Costeen Hatzi. As he has been out of the Tour for much of this season due to a knee injury, Kyrgios has updated his followers on his social media about various aspects of his life, including his girlfriend.

Who is Costeen Hatzi and what more do we know about her?

Costeen Hatzi was born in Australia on May 16, 2000. She is a 23-year-old social media influencer who gained prominence as a result of her relationship with Nick Kyrgios. Hatzi and Kyrgios live in Sydney, Australia. She earned a bachelor’s in psychology sciences from the Australian Catholic University in May 2021.

When she isn’t travelling with Kyrgios to his matches, Hatzi works as a social media influencer and interior designer. She also admitted that prior to meeting her beau, she wasn’t a huge fan of the racket sport: “I never really watched a tennis game in my life, so yeah, this is all new for me,” she said in the Netflix docu-series, BreakPoint.

Despite Kyrgios’ image as the bad boy of tennis, Hatzi has apparently fallen for his softer side. “He’s not as crazy as everyone thinks,” she reiterates throughout the series.

Here’s how Kyrgios and Hatzi met and became official

Hatzi explained to ESPN in a January 2023 article how the two initially met. She had uploaded a mirror for sale on Instagram in late 2021, and Kyrgios contacted her when he saw the advertisement. Hatzi told the news outlet that it was love at first sight when he showed up at her door to buy the mirror.

Hatzi and Kyrgios were rumored to be dating in late 2021. But they didn’t make it Instagram official until January 2, 2022, with a selfie captioned, “Not a bad way to start 2022.” Two days later, she uploaded a photo of a big arrangement of roses and tagged Kyrgios in it.

Hatzi celebrated the couple’s one-year anniversary less than a year later. “A year with my human. It was the best year of my life. I love you,” she captioned a December photo of herself and Kyrgios.

Hatzi often travels to support Kyrgios at his matches, which she shares on her Instagram. She tweeted a video of them kissing on the court after he won the Australian doubles title, his only grand slam title to date. She captioned the post, “I love you so much & I am extremely proud of you. What an accomplishment; no one is more deserving than you.”

Kyrgios labeled the French Open the worst slam in 2021. However, in December 2022, he announced that he would play in the 2023 Roland Garros, after a six-year absence. His participation was motivated by his girlfriend’s desire to visit Paris.

While Kyrgios said he “would have preferred to stay at home,” he said Hatzi’s desire to see the city prompted him to compete in — and win — the tournament.

The Australian influencer has been steadily improving her fame on her platform. Her growth over time has been immense. It even led to Kyrgios joking that if her career expands further, he can retire from the racket sport.

Hatzi, 22, has grown her social media following to 170,000 followers on Instagram, making her one of Australia’s most prominent lifestyle and beauty products influencers. In February, she tweeted photographs of herself getting ready for the debut of a Bondi Sands campaign. Kyrgios shared the post on his Instagram story as he joked about retiring if her career goes further ahead. Such posts appear to show that the 27-year-old is more in love than ever.
