Argentinian tennis star Juan Martin del Potro has dominated the tennis world with his huge forehand and serve and managed to win 22 titles on the ATP tour, with one of them being a slam victory in the finals of 2009 US Open against Roger Federer. Over the year, del Potro dominated top stars like Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray, and others and established a special name for himself.

However, the Argentinian’s career was marred with injuries as it created a lot of disruptions to his playing career and finally led to his possible retirement at the 2022 Argentina Open. During his struggle with injuries, del Potro had incredible support from his friends and family.

Everything to know about Daniel and Patricia – parents of Juan Martin del Potro

Coming to the family of del Potro, they rarely made public appearances and hence remained relatively unknown to his fans. However, we can know the basic details about the Argentinian’s parents. del Potro’s father Daniel, was a veterinarian and also played for rugby unions in Argentina.

Daniel used to accompany del Potro in his formative days but once his son started traveling across tournaments, Daniel gave the responsibility to his son’s first coach, Marcelo Gomez. When his father passed away in January last year, del Potro wrote an emotional post and shared it on Instagram.

On the other hand, del Potro‘s mother Patricia is a teacher. While she didn’t pay a visit to any of her son’s matches so far, there are no photos of her available. Both Daniel and Patricia stayed back home to take care of their family business while Juan continued his pursuit for excellence in tennis.

In one of the interviews given by the Argentinian, he highlighted the impact and the sacrifices made by his parents so that he could have a career in tennis.

Since the beginning, my dad and my mom have done everything possible so that I can travel. My dad is a veterinarian, and my Mom is a teacher in literature and language. They have that work culture that was applied during my career. There were times when they had the opportunity to travel, and that’s why my mom didn’t want to so she wouldn’t miss school and stop teaching.”

When del Potro hangs his racquet, he can dedicate more time to his family and be there for them to take care of their needs as he explores other options outside the sport.
