Should Alexei Popyrin get a US Open wildcard after his recent victory and heartfelt plea?

Australia’s Alexei Popyrin finally found his footing in 2024. After spending a moderate 2023 trying to overcome 2022’s setbacks, Popyrin finally proved his worth in Montreal. While this victory put a huge smile on his face, Popyrin is now eyeing the American Grand Slam. Teasing his girlfriend after his victory, this Australian tennis star showcases great enthusiasm for the final grand slam of the year. Will Popyrin continue with this brilliant form in the Grand Slam?

In a nerve-wracking match, Popyrin defeated Andrey Rublev by 6-2, 6-4 at the Canadian Open. The Aussie player gained his first Master’s title and his first title of the 2024 season. Popyrin’s girlfriend Amy Pederick has been the Australian’s biggest pillar of success. A physiotherapist by profession, Pederick helps her beau with fitness and training.

As he finally bore fruit with her and his team’s help, post-victory Popyrin couldn’t help but take a funny dig at his girlfriend and said, “This is one of the few weeks where my girlfriend isn’t traveling with me… and I win the tournament. 😂 I hope she comes to New York now.” We will likely see the couple in the grounds of the Flushing Meadows. While they like to keep their personal life close to themselves, Popyrin and Pederick often share their vacation photos on social media.

Popyrin’s revelations made people see how these two were destined to be with each other. This ATP star further said, “And then when were 18 years old, she was in London and I was there for the Queens (tennis tournament) and we met up, and we have been dating ever since.” Following his statement about Pederick, it wasn’t difficult for people to understand the great bond between them.
