German tennis sensation and world no.2 Alexander Zverev is currently on a holiday break after having a great season. This year saw him clinching a good amount of titles like the Italian Open and Rolex Paris Masters. Apart from that, he also succeeded in reaching the French Open final. Although there were some bumps on the way, he managed to end 2024 on a high note with his ranking improvement. But now it’s time to relax ahead of a busy schedule. Zverev is making the most of his off season period by spending quality time with girlfriend Sophia Thomalla in Maldives. Meanwhile, she’s also leaving no chance to poke fun at his BF, as it becomes evident from a new update shared by her. But what did Zverev do?
Sophia took to her Instagram and shared a story, dated November 30th, with a video clip. It showed Alexander Zverev riding a jet ski. Well that’s pretty much a normal thing, right? Seems like it’s not. While sharing the clip, Sophia took a hilarious jab at him and pointed out that he was wearing diving goggles! “And this guy is driving jet ski with diving goggles”, she wrote in the story. Seems like she didn’t expect Zverev to make use of the diving goggles in this manner.

But one thing is very clear – Alexander is enjoying his vacation in Maldives to the fullest and why not? It happens to be his favorite place to spend time away from tennis. Just few days ago, on November 23, he had shared an update while letting his fans know he’s back to Maldives, following his exit in the SF round of the ATP Finals. Along with Sophia, Zverev’s father Alexander Zverev Sr. and Marcelo Melo, his doubles partner, are also with him on his holiday break. But it’s not the first time the world no.2 has come to Maldives.
Alexander Zverev and his love for Maldives
For those unaware, Zverev went to Maldives last year as well with Sophia. He had opted for sea diving to shed off the stress and get some much-needed rejuvenation. The Island nation is probably his favorite destination to spend holiday breaks towards the end of the year. It was made evident by a fan account as well that seemed to keep a track of his outings in the country. “3d year in a row on Maldives together 🥹❤️🔥🧸🐍🏝️deserved romantic vacation time after a hard year’s work for these two, rest good sweeties!😚”, they wrote in the comments section under a post by Zverev from last year.

All things considered, Zverev and his girlfriend are making sure they get to share some precious moments together. Especially given the fact that he will soon enter a busy schedule once again next year. After ending 2024 as No.2, his sole focus will remain on dethroning Jannik Sinner and take the No.1 position in the ATP rankings.
Zverev has time and again mentioned how desperately he wants to win a Grand Slam. The new season will start with the Australian Open, giving him a big opportunity to make it happen. This year, he reached the SF round of the event but couldn’t get past Daniil Medvedev who beat him in a tough encounter. It will be intriguing to see whether Zverev can do it this time. Do you think he will be able to win his first Major at the Australian Open? Let us know in the comments below.
