There is something in the courts of Paris, as every player is compelled to show their best there. In a battle for semi-final seat in Paris Masters, Alexander Zverev challenges Stan Wawrinka for the fourth time in his career. The German, however, will continue on his higher success as he passed the Swiss Test without any haste.

Between the couple, the German professional carried a 3 for 0 advantage against the Swiss player. Their last encounter was equally animated in the Australian Open 2020, where Zverev beats Wawrinka 1-6, 6-3, 6-4, 6-2. Considering their past meetings, the 23 years old German entered the match quite confidently. On the other side, the 35 years old Wawrinka wanted his last of the runs count.

The 3 times Grand Slam winner Stan Wawrinka made the first serve and won the game without any argument. The highest-ranked German responded well in the next game and levelled their terms. From then on they both competed toe to toe, as they added one game each to their tally. Anticipating the stage of the game, they both looked keen to grab every point. Halfway around the first set, the German who received his first lead returned it deservedly back to Wawrinka. The score standing at 3-3.

Putting his gear up to the next round, Zverev delivered some hard-hitting tennis shots and gained a 2 lead up. His power reverberated in a court without spectators. Wawrinka felt his feet dig into the court, as he could see the set moving away from him.

World No. 7 Alexander Zverev made a clear run until the end of the first set. For that, his perfectly balanced returns and power against the 35 years old Wawrinka are to be credited. The German remained unbeaten in the second half of the first set, he won conclusively 6-3.

Zverev Wins The Tie-Breaker

Despite the controversy revolving around the German, the prowess in his gameplay is improving day by day. While the former World No. 3 looks to make a better plan to proceed ahead. At resume of the second set, they both shared one game each. Their intent was clear, they both wanted to stay one more day in Paris.

Experience reflected sharp on the court, as Wawrinka leaned into winning the set. But, at the cost of a few bad shots, everything turned around for the Swiss professional. All praise to the German, who stayed in the game and jumped ahead of Wawrinka and brought the game to a tiebreaker.

Four love up Zverev, Wawrinka looks at his hope to semifinals shattering. The masterclass from Alexander Zverev in the tie-breaker set the distinction between the two. Stan Wawrinka who ended Russian Andrey Rublev’s Paris run on the way to the third round finds his exit before time. The score rested at 6-3, 7-6 (7-1).
