Once a year dazzling event, Met Gala 2023 is going with the theme, ‘In honor of Karl’. The theme is a tribute to the fashion legend Karl Lagerfeld who modernized the use of fur and feathers in clothing.

The event garners a lot of attention every single year and it is a ground of opportunity for budding influencers or celebrities. However, there is also an entry fee that the guests have to pay. This year the entry fee has been hiked to $50,000, and this is going to cost some celebrities quite a chunk of their income.

As reported by the Metro, the organizers have decided to raise the fee from the previous one by almost $20,000. Earlier the fee for entry was around $30,000. The organizers have decided to increase the price of the ticket. However, Met Gala is not just a pompous celebrity event, it is a fundraising event.

The funds collected from this event are for the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The funds collected with these high ticket prices are then used to support the institutions’ exhibitions and acquisitions.

However, this is not the only thing that has stirred up the headlines this year. An animal welfare organization has also vouched for its co-chairs including Roger Federer to improvise the theme.

What has PETA requested Federer to do?

PETA has expressed its concerns about the theme of the event. The reason is that designer Karl Lagerfeld worked with animal fur and feathers a lot.

Now, PETA has vouched for Roger Federer to make it a regulation that guests use vegan alternatives instead of using real furs and feathers.
