Frances Tiafoe did not come from an affluent family. He grew up with parents who worked day and night to make ends meet. Frances Tiafoe and his brother, Franklin, grew up loving tennis due to their parents, and the tennis star recently shared the tale of how the twins got into the sport. 

Tiafoe is a player who recently entered the top 20, and he is currently in rank 16. This year has been nothing short of a success for him. However, he still has not forgotten the struggles his parents had gone through for him.

The American player has trained for hours on end to rise to the top 20 of the ATP. As he continues to play, he strives to go even higher. Recently, he appeared on the ‘Connect the Dots’ podcast, where he talked about how he and his twin brother ended up playing tennis. Tiafoe talked about how much his mother worked and how the opportunity came to them. 

Tiafoe said, “So my mom was working two jobs as a nurse. And you know, she would work through the nights. I would be staying there with my brother overnight, so we stayed there like three times a week. While growing up. I spent a lot of time around a tennis tournament.

The American player further stated, “My parents were like, it’s good to get these guys out of this area. You know, get them out the hood, whatever, so they ain’t doing dumb shit. And yeah, and we just fell in love with tennis. They didn’t push on us at all. It was just like, Yo, you got this opportunity if you want to do it.”

The opportunity has brought much success to Big Foe. He has uplifted himself and his family and earned enough to bring his parents out of their working conditions. He is grateful to his parents for everything they’ve done for him and still gets choked up when talking about their struggles for him.

Tiafoe gets emotional when remembering his parents’ struggles

The 25-year-old American ATP star has fought through all odds to change the condition of his family and come up to the top 20. Now, his only worries are about winning more titles as his financial problems are over. Tiafoe wouldn’t be here without the struggles his parents went through for him. He hasn’t forgotten the efforts they have put into him and talked about it in an interview with Tennis TV.

Tiafoe became emotional after winning the Stuttgart Open, talking about how nobody besides his parents had faith in him. But after winning his third ATP 250 title, he believed his efforts had paid off. What are your thoughts on this rising star?
