The match was significantly impacted by the Turin court and the weather. They tipped the scales in Fritz’s favor, and he defeated Nadal by scores of 7-6 (3) and 6-1. Rafa managed to tie the first set, but by the end of the evening, Fritz had a commanding lead.

Fritz shares his views on his recent win against Rafael Nadal
The way Fritz saw it, he had won the battle of serves and returns. He gave the court the credit for a little extra acceleration, particularly on his backhand side.
At the press conference, Fritz was quoted as, “I mean, to be honest, I think I like it more because when I play the top guys, I just always play better tennis because I know I need to. I know I’m not going to get away with anything less than my best tennis.”
The American tennis player also further added, “I’m pulling the trigger more. I’m much more prone to play a not-so-good match against a lower-ranked person who I don’t want to lose to (smiling).”
