The former American tennis player, Sam Querrey had a long list of achievements and records under his belt during his journey on the court. Prior to his decision to put down his racket, the former world No. 11 player broke the record for consecutive service aces as she pulled out 10 with his customary prowess.

Now that he is away from competitive tennis, the 35-year-old is still making history in the sphere of a different racket sport, pickleball. During a Grand Slam pickleball event, Querrey added a rare feat to his bag.

After his retirement in the previous season, Sam Querrey ventured into the paddle sports community. The fast-growing sport in America has already intrigued Querrey as he has been outclassing some of the big names in the ongoing US Open of pickleball. During the Grand Slam event, the 35-year-old tennis veteran pulled off a rare feat as he comes becomes the first player to reach the US Open quarterfinals in both tennis and pickleball.

A few seasons back, the former American tennis player squared off with his ATP rival, Kevin Anderson in the quarterfinal round in New York. Now, once again, Querrey has reached the US Open quarterfinals of the paddle sport. Speaking of his historic victory, the former world No. 11 player recently uploaded a video clip of himself detailing his pickleball recap in Naples, Florida. He said, “All right, let’s do a US Open of pickleball recap Day one and Singles Day. We’re in Naples, Florida. I suppose start at 8am and get there like 6:4,5 I don’t really know how the warm ups work yet at these things.”

While talking about his schedule, Querrey also opened up about his adversities in his pickleball practice sessions. He stated, “So I go to the desk I asked for a ball to warm because in the tennis tour, you got balls. Not here on the pickleball tour you got to provide your own ball. So anyway, I’m no ball and I’m walking around the grounds figuring out like how should I warm up.”

The American tennis veteran also revealed how he made history in Naples despite the hot and humid climate conditions. Querrey said, “And then I’m not exaggerating, it was like 90 degrees today and the humidity was probably 100% It was like one of the hottest days I’ve ever experienced in my life. But despite all that adversity. I made the quarterfinals of my first ever US Open Pickleball event and tennis took me 11 years to do that. At the US Open Tennis so, anyway, successful tournament, and l am keeping everyone up to date on the rest of the results this week.”
