Stefanos Tsistsipas has had his fair share of headlines recently. From revealing his relationship with Paula Badosa to recharging the past Wimbledon controversy with Nick Kyrgios, Tsistsipas is constantly on the radar. With Wimbledon ahead, being in the news only increases the familiarity of the players with the world.
The on-screen picture of the player we get to see is different from their behind-the-scenes. Serena Williams, Venus Williams, and Roger Federer, as we know now, are all legends but once struggled for basic amenities and faced a lot of financial struggles. They started their journey as commoners and rose to become billionaires. Recently, Tsitsipas revealed how he struggled financially and how demanding Tennis can be.

Things were not handed on a platter to Stefanos Tsistsipas
The Greek recently gave an interview to ‘Rolex, published in New York Times.’? When asked about the challenges he faced from the early start of his career, the 24-year-old revealed that it had never been easy for him to enter professional tennis, despite hailing from a family with a Tennis background. Playing tennis can drain you physically, mentally, and sometimes financially.
The fifth seed stated, “It?s an extremely difficult industry to break into and be a successful athlete in. What I?ve learned is that I always have to keep pushing myself to the limit. There were a lot of financial obstacles ? tennis is an individual sport, and it requires you to pay for everything on your own.”

Tsitsipas started the play when he was three years old and turned professional when he was just a teenager. Though he was exposed to the game from his birth, struggles did not spare him.
From his pressures to pleasures, Tsistsipas revealed it all.
The two-time Grand Slam finalist became the youngest player to win ATP finals in eighteen years. He achieved this feat when he was just sixteen years old. Revealing the obstacles that came his way, the Greek said, “If you?re not from a background where you can afford it, it?s not an easy thing.”?
The nine-time ATP singles title winner unfolded how he achieved what he wanted. He revealed, “I?ve struggled with being away from my family more than half the year and putting all my attention and focus on tennis. But that?s also because it?s a dream of mine, I chose it, I pursued it, I took the risks.”

The Wimbledon player stated that he always remains calm and relaxed and does not let stress and anxiety take over. He believes in having total mental control before playing a game and advice the Tennis aspirants to be mature, learn from their mistakes, and move on. The young champion suggested that it is important to be around friends and family to hold on to. There is pleasure on the court, but pressures await off-court.
The ‘Greek God’ believes that whatever we give, we get back. From a three-year-old who first set foot on the court with a minimum financial background to a professional tennis player who is now worth $30,000,000, Tsitsipas proved that with determination, courage, and moral support, nothing is impossible to achieve.
