The incident involving Djokovic garnered significant attention after being captured on camera. However, during a recent press conference following his victory over Jack Draper, Medvedev revealed a more harrowing incident, “full of blood.”

When the Russian tennis player was asked about Djokovic’s water bottle incident, he came forward and shared an incident that he faced one time during the 2016 Wimbledon, which he lost to Marcus Willis. He stated, “To come in, there is like a cage which you need to step up just a little bit. On the top there is also one thing. I didn’t look carefully. I hit it. Okay, you hit your head sometimes. Doesn’t matter.”

The former world number one ranked tennis player opened up about how it’s quite natural for a tennis player to face a situation like this. On the other hand, he mentioned, “Especially when you are tall. So usually when you hit your head, you straightaway put your arm there because you’re painful.”

Further, he detailed how, just to save his head, he got his arm hurt and apparently lost the match the other day, facing an exit from the tournament itself. The Russian player added, “Look on my arm, full of blood. I say I have to go to hospital, stitches, et cetera, I lost the match the next day. I felt like I played good.”

However, while he kept calm about the event, the 24-time Grand Slam champion used a lighter tone while confronting his supporters about his condition. Following the event, the 36-year-old tennis star assured his fans on X, the previous Twitter, that he was okay. “I appreciate your expressions of worry. I’m alright, resting at the hotel with an ice pack. This was an accident. Until Sunday, see you all.”

While the incident of being struck by a bottle momentarily cast doubt on his continued participation, the current world number one laughed it off. In a playful reaction, he even showed up ready to greet his admirers, wearing a bike helmet as a safety precaution.

One day after the unexpected incident at the Italian Open where he was hit in the head by a water bottle, Novak Djokovic showed off his sense of humor by showing up to the event in a cycling helmet. The 36-year-old tennis player posted a video of himself wearing the protective equipment on social media on Saturday, demonstrating that he was undamaged.

With the caption, “Today I came prepared,” Djokovic is seen signing autographs while sporting the helmet in the video, demonstrating his capacity for comedy in any given circumstance.
