Despite Wimbledon being just weeks away, Nick Kyrgios decided to opt out of the Halle Open 2023 in Germany. His withdrawal from the tournament is a heartbreak for his fans who wanted him to return after the injury. But his Greek girlfriend Costeen Hatzi had some words of hope for the star.

Days after Nick Kyrgios’ disclosure about his ‘controlling girlfriend’, Costeen Hatzi spoke about the star’s Halle Open withdrawal on Instagram. Kyrgios had earlier said in a video that he has put Costeen Hatzi’s photo as his wallpaper and that his girlfriend does not let him change that. Because, according to Kyrgios, she wanted the tennis star to see her as a pillar of support. And here the ‘pillar of support’ of the Canberra-born star posted an Instagram story with an intimate photograph of the couple.

Following Nick Kyrgios’ withdrawal, Costeen Hatzi posted her picture with the star, where she can be seen bending down towards him to kiss him. Hatzi leans down from the stands while Nick Kyrgios stands on the grass court.

Unfortunately, not healthy enough to play this year, but hopefully next year. Takes time. See you again in 2024, Halle,” she captioned the picture in her Instagram Story with these words of encouragement and hope.

This comes in the back of Nick Kyrgios’ announcement. In a video released by the organizers of the tournament, Kyrgios revealed the “unfortunate news” of his withdrawal.

In the video, the tennis star reasoned that he wanted to be fit for Wimbledon, which starts on July 3. Also, he said that he did not want to go there and not be able to repeat the performance of last year, when he reached the semifinal. The Aussie star said, “I’m still dealing with a couple of things with my knee. Just trying to give myself the best opportunity to compete at Wimbledon.”

Before coming to Halle, Kyrgios participated in the Stuttgart Open after months of absence from the tour. He suffered an early exit in the first round, losing to Wu Yibing of China. The 2002 Wimbledon finalist had a wonderful season in 2022 before sustaining an injury in the Japan Open. And later he sustained another one in a more dramatic and dangerous situation.

Further, he added that armed robbers had held his mother at gunpoint during the incident.
