After the match, he explained why he had the outburst. “Well, the entire match pretty much. Disrespect, but again, that’s something I’m kind of have to be prepared for. You know, in the Davis Cup, it’s normal that sometimes fans step over the line, but, you know, in the heat of the moment, you react too, and you, in a way, how can I say, show that you don’t allow this kind of behavior.”
He further said that fans can say whatever they want, but he will respond to that as well. Additionally, the fans banging the drums annoyed him, and he had an outburst, so he chatted with them.
The Djoker’s outburst will be added to the long list of moments where he has had a squabble with those in the stands. Just this year, one can map out many instances of his fights with the audience.

Djokovic vs the fans
Just before the Davis Cup, Djokovic faced Jannik Sinner in the final match of the ATP Finals. The tournament was held in Turin, Italy, which meant Sinner would have the support of the entire audience. They were completely on Sinner’s side and even booed Djokovic when he called for a challenge. They doubled down when his challenge proved to be correct.
Before the ATP Finals, Djokovic also won the Paris Masters, where a similar situation occurred. The Parisians cheered as he served a double fault at break point, and the Djoker only gestured at them to give him more disdain. A similar event happened in the French Open, where he faced an aggressive crowd. He took medical time out during a match that saw jeers from the crowd.
