Felix Auger-Aliassime made it to the final of the Madrid Open last year and to the semis of the Paris Olympics, upsetting the likes of Daniil Medvedev and Casper Ruud, but he was unable to find consistency throughout the season. The Canadian was impressive only in patches. He also split with the legendary coach Toni Nadal, whom he worked with for a couple of years together and achieved much success. However, the new season is an opportunity to start afresh and the 24-year-old has already had a positive start at the Adelaide International, qualifying for the quarterfinals.

Felix Auger-Aliassime will take on Marcos Giron of the United States in the last eight in Adelaide. It promises to be an exciting clash between two hard-hitting stars.

After a promising run in 2021-2022, Auger-Aliassime seems to have lost his way. While injuries have played some part in it, the Canadian star has struggled with inconsistent form as well over the past couple of years. Auger-Aliassime started his season representing Canada at the United Cup but lost to Borna Coric in the tie against Croatia. However, he came back strongly to defeat Taylor Fritz.

Auger-Aliassime is the fifth seed at the Adelaide International and defeated Arthur Cazaux in the round of 16. He would be brimming with confidence as he takes on Giron.

Giron, at 31, doesn’t have too many years left in his career and he would look to make the most of the opportunities that he gets. In the lead-up to the quarterfinals at Adelaide, Giron racked up a couple of impressive wins. In the first round, he defeated Alexander Vukic and in the second round, he knocked out Denis Shapovalov.

Both Felix Auger-Aliassime and Marcos Giron have been on the tennis circuit for quite some time now. The two have crossed paths often and their head-to-head record stands at 4-1 in favor of Auger-Aliassime. On his day, Auger-Aliassime can beat any player. Once positioned as high as 6th in the ATP rankings, the Canadian star has dropped out of the top 20 and is placed at the 29th spot currently. Meanwhile, Giron is ranked 45th in the world. Talking about their win-loss record in 2024, there was very little to separate between the two. While Giron had a 51% win percentage, the Canadian star won 56% of his matches.

Further, Auger-Aliassime is back to his best serving game. During the pre-quarterfinal in Adelaide, he racked up 12 aces against Cazaux. The Canadian star looks favorite to win the contest in straight sets. Who are you backing in this exciting battle? Let us know your views in the comments below.
