Australian tennis ace Nick Kyrgios is in wonderful form this year. After a stellar performance in Wimbledon, the 27-year-old is doing great in the US Open as well. The Aussie defeated J.J. Wolf in straight sets to advance into the fourth round. With this, he has set up a mouthwatering clash with the defending champion Daniil Medvedev.

While Kyrgios battled it out in the third round, Serena Williams was also playing her third-round match as well. However, Momma Smash lost the match, and it turned out to be her career’s last match. Later, in his on-court interview, Kyrgios spoke about the legacy of Serena Williams.

Nick Kyrgios praises Serena Williams

Speaking highly of the retiring legend, the 27-year-old said Serena and the tennis big three on the men’s side are in a completely different league. “She’s had a career that I don’t think no one else will emulate. You’ve got a couple on the men’s side who are trying to catch her in grand slam but Nadal, Serena, Federer, Novak, these are once-in-generation athletes, and I wouldn’t even put myself in the same category ever,” he said.

The Aussie further added, “it’s a special moment for her. I’m sure she played extremely well as well. She won two matches and nearly got on top there, so that’s a hell of a way to go out and I just appreciate what she’s done. I am sure everyone in this building does as well.”
