The Russian tennis star, Daniil Medvedev entered the highest level of tennis when The Big 3, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic, were dominant forces on the court. Further, the current world No. 5 player also got the prestigious opportunity to square off with the ATP legends. Having played against them on various occasions, the 27-year-old has picked up some significant game-changing insights. Speaking about it, the Miami Open finalist recently revealed how playing against The Big 3 of tennis, especially Federer, has helped him become a better version of himself.

Daniil Medvedev opens up about improving his on-court personality

The Russian tennis player has outshined some of the best players on the men’s circuit to reach the finals of the tournament in Miami Gardens. Daniil Medvedev has put on some stellar displays at the Hard Rock Stadium as he is just one step away from adding another ATP title to his bag. However, some top talents on the men’s circuit have lately caused some trouble to the 27-year-old player.

The list includes the Spaniard, Carlos Alcaraz, who previously prevailed in their meeting at the Indian Wells Masters final. Notably, Medvedev was asked whether he has made any changes to his game considering his previous defeat against the BNP Paribas Open champion. The current World No. 5 player answered by saying that unforced errors have often been the main reason behind his decline in performances.

However, when it comes to Alcaraz, it’s his topspin that has pressurized Medvedev. Speaking about it in a press conference, the Miami Open finalist revealed that he is finding a way to deal with it. This is not the first time when Medvedev is encountering challenges while competing with his opponents. Even during his meeting with The Big 3 of tennis, the former US Open champion was not at his best, as he suffered various defeats.

However, those on-court meetings against the tennis legends gave him a valuable lesson to be “a better version of himself.”

Medvedev said, “But in general, you know, playing against guys like Novak, Rafa, unfortunately when I played Roger I was not yet at my best, it taught me that sometimes you can have matches where they beat you maybe easy, and the next one you have to do better.”

Medvedev also lauded the same players during the BNP Paribas Open

Even during his incredible run at the BNP Paribas Open, the Russian tennis star managed to draw some inspiration from the tennis greats. A lot of criticism was being thrown at him during the tournament in Miami Gardens. Medvedev, on the other hand, managed to remain poised amidst all the drama. For this, he credited the likes of Federer and Nadal, who also faced criticism but chose to concentrate on their performances on the court.
