Rafael Nadal, the 22-time Grand Slam champion and former World no.1, recently welcomed his firstborn. He and his wife Maria Francisca Perello announced their pregnancy in June following Nadal’s 14th French Open victory.

The couple has been blessed with a baby boy whom they have named Rafael after his father. Further, the family of three is planning to shift into a new dream home in Porto Cristo. Here are some details regarding the same.

Rafael Nadal builds a new home for his newborn son and wife

The location of the house is close to the Porto Cristo yacht club, where the tennis star moors his yacht. The $220 million worth Spaniard bought the land a few years ago and now work is well underway. It will soon be ready to harbor his growing family and its precious memories. However, it is still unclear when the family will be moving in.

Nadal is determined to keep his private life away from the paparazzi’s lens. Especially after the August incident when Perello had to take emergency medical help and the media, paying no heed to the seriousness of the situation, gobbled up the footage and circulated it throughout the internet.

The 36-year-old collected his wife and son on Thursday from the hospital and brought them back home. Further, unlike many, he has returned to his practice sessions skipping the paternity leave. Well, it doesn’t come as a shock, as the professional is famous for showing utter dedication to his sport.

Nadal’s impressive performance this year

Nadal started the season with a bang. He took down Daniil Medvedev, who riding high on form with the 2021 US Open victory, at the Australian Open. Following that, he executed a marvelous 21-match winning streak. The 14-time French Open champion faced an unfortunate rib injury at Indian Wells, which in turn not only ended his streak but also took away his chances of claiming a fourth Indian Wells title.

Then Nadal made a comeback in the clay court season and, after dominating the clay-court major in Paris, he tried to stamp his authority on the grass-courts of London. The two times Wimbledon champion successfully made it to the semifinals of the Grand Slam. However, an abdominal injury marked the end of his otherwise flawless run and later affected his performance in the US Open as well.
