2021 wasn’t the best year for 20-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer. Despite reaching the quarterfinals of the Wimbledon championship in June, the Swiss Maestro could not make it past.

In fact, through the entirety of 2021, Federer failed to secure any championship or tournament to his name. Moreover, halfway through the season in June, he exited the tour after requiring a second surgery on his knee.

Roger Federer makes a promise to fans for 2022

Following his mid-tour exit last year, the 40-year-old underwent a second surgical procedure on his problematic knee. Moreover, there has been no definitive news on his return in the subsequent year.

Back in 2018, Federer had ended his deal with sports giant Nike. Instead, he signed a new $300 million deal with Japanese apparel brand Uniqlo.

Now, as 2021 comes to an end, the official Twitter handle for Uniqlo ambassadors shared a message straight from him. Roger Federer addresses all his fans as he wishes them a new year.

“2021 was another tough year for so many throughout the world,” wrote Federer. Then, he hopes and prays for the good health and safety of his worldwide fanbase. “I hope you all are staying safe and are having a wise holiday season with family and friends,” Federer says in his letter.

 

Moreover, he even shares his own New Year’s resolution with his fans. In fact, the star’s resolution for 2022 is regarding the very fans who missed seeing him play all year after Wimbledon 2021.

Federer’s best wishes

According to the letter Federer shared, Federer is optimistic about the new year ahead.

“One of my New Year’s resolutions for 2022 is keep you fans as a focus during my rehabilitation,” Roger promises. Furthermore, he promises to focus on his fans, especially during the rehabilitation of his second-knee surgery.

He even expresses his wish to see all his fans again. “See you all again soon,” the Maestro writes.

Even though it is still largely unclear when Roger Federer will make his return to the tennis court, 2022 is definitely going to see him do so. Thus, Federer will take almost a year to return.

However, fans of the player will be relieved that the great player bade his time before crossing over to the slopes this time.
