Over the years, Spanish tennis legend Rafael Nadal has mesmerized tennis fans with his audacious displays on the court. Such has been the stature of the 22-time Grand Slam champion that he is often billed as the greatest player to have played the sport of tennis. Additionally, Nadal’s never-say-die attitude on the court has inspired millions of people all over the globe. Recently, he made an appearance alongside NBA star Stephen Curry for a Subway commercial.
The former World Number 1 has had a lengthy injury layoff this year. He has played just two tournaments in 2023 and has managed to win just a solitary match. Nonetheless, he had something interesting to share with his fans.

Rafael Nadal takes a cheeky dig at himself
The Spaniard took to social media to share a glimpse of his latest Subway commercial with NBA star Stephen Curry. The 37-year-old shared a post showing him in a brief conversation with Curry in the commercial, as three sandwiches can be spotted on the table. In the next slides, Nadal compared a Subway slice with his tennis slice shot as he shared a cheeky caption on the $10 Billion brand, saying, “I can’t believe I admitted that… Swipe for the slices in question.”

Nadal’s slice shot has been one of the most effective shots in his arsenal over the years. It has helped the Spaniard control the pace of the matches, allowing him to dictate the play.

Fans have been missing the former World Number 1 at the ongoing Wimbledon Championships. His absence will have a massive impact on his ATP rankings, as he reached the last four in 2022 and was due to defend 720 ranking points this year. Nadal has dropped outside the top 100, occupying the 136th spot on the ATP rankings chart.
When will Nadal make a comeback?
Last month, the 37-year-old received a comeback invitation when he was offered a spot on Spain’s Davis Cup team. Nadal underwent arthroscopic surgery that resulted in him being out of action for months. The 14-time French Open champion faces a race against time to get fully fit for the event later this year.
